Dilong paradoxus

Dilong paradoxus was an early tyrannosaur from the Liaoning province of china. It was the first feathered tyrannosaur to be found and is one of the most primitive, suggesting that Tyrannosaurus rex itself may have had some feathers, but a full body covering would be unlikely because Tyrannosaurus probably could stay warm with its massive bulk. However, baby Tyrannosaurus might have had a downy covering much like that of a duckling's to keep warm. Dilong paradoxus probably hunted the local hadrosaur, Jinzhousaurus. Dilong would have had many competitors for food, including the tiny dromaeosaur Microraptor and the deadly troodont Sinovenator (below).
